So True
[as
she's watching the ending of the romantic movie]
Jamie: God, I wish my life was a movie sometimes. You know, I'd never have to worry about my hair, or having to go to the bathroom. And then when I'm at my lowest point, some guy would chase me down the street, pour his heart out and we'd kiss. Happily ever after.
[referring to the couple in the romantic movie, riding in a carriage at the end of the movie]
Jamie: I mean, a horse and carriage! Come on! That is...awesome!
Life would be so much easier if it was a romantic comedy, obviously there would be an angsty part in the middle but then your true love would track you down and pour out their heart to you. I think I do believe in true love, that God's got a person out there for everyone and that when you meet that person you'll know.
Also I really LOVE this movie, I don't at all condone the actual friends with benefits thing but I find the movie hilarious and it makes me laugh out loud (literally lol) so I enjoy watching it (although I sometimes fast-forward some of the awkward parts because they're awkward).
Anywho bucket list, am I right. (There's no question mark because it's not actually a question.)

Clarkson Knows Day 7
The Final Day of Clarkson Knows
Another one that gets stuck in my head ALL THE TIME:
I know I shared this one a while back but it's my song of the day so just sit back, listen, and enjoy it again

Clarkson Knows Day 6
This isn't my favorite actual song, but I do appreciate the lyrics and since this is Clarkson Knows not Clarkson's greatest hits I chose Don't Waste Your Time
You Can't Always Get What You Want But if You Try Sometimes You Get What You NEED
Ok first, the above picture has NOTHING to do with this post, it just makes me chuckle so I felt compelled to include it. Second, yes I used the glee cover instead of the original, so sue me.
This post is for all the ladies out there who put everyone else's needs/happiness before their own. . . . .this post is for all the ladies out there. We are very caring people, we would rather be hurt ourselves than hurt other people so often times we just live with pain. Well ladies, this isn't healthy. Yes it's good to take care of other people, but you do that well unless you take care of yourself.
Example: you have to put your own oxygen mask on before you put the oxygen masks on your kids because if you pass out before you finishing putting the masks on everybody suffers.
Real life: you have to take care of yourself first (at least make yourself somewhat halfway content with your life) because if you don't you're going to be pissy (my brother's description, not mine) and then everybody suffers.
Being selfish even to the slightest extent is really hard, it goes against our very nature, but it's necessary for us to do our jobs right. First step to taking care of yourself, be honest about your feelings and needs. Be honest with yourself and be honest with those who your feelings/needs affect. If you aren't honest and don't address your needs, nothing will change and things will deteriorate.
Sometimes honesty hurts, but it's gonna hurt worse if you let feelings stew so just throw it out there, rip the band-aid off, and address your problems.
Suggestion: start by being honest with yourself; take 15 minutes every day and write down things that are bothering you and what you can do/ask for to help change these things.
Another Suggestion: take some time every day just for yourself, do something you want, sit down with some coffee and read a book, watch tv, go for a run/walk, play with your dog, I really don't care what you do (as long as it's not a serial killer/stalker type thing) just make sure you're doing it for you. Perhaps start with 15/30 minutes a day and go from there.
Final Suggestion: get a decent amount of sleep every night, aim for at least 6 hours (preferably 8), set your bedtime and stick to it.
All of this is way easier said than done (especially when it involves telling people potentially hurtful honesties - it's a word now, tell your friends) but it's something that's gotta be done so do it, grow some lady-balls and just do it.
Ok, it's late and I'm no longer being ever-so-slightly profound so I'm gonna quit (don't know if I'm still ahead so I'll quit now just in case I still am).
Night peeps!

Now I know we've all been here at one point or another and can I just add distracted driving much? I know texting and driving is bad but I would say having a mental breakdown and driving is much worse, seriously never cry and drive, it's very dangerous.

To Make Your Future Elevator Rides More Amusing
When you get off the elevator, whisper to the others who stayed on, "I'd get off the elevator NOW if I were you."
When the other people in the elevator leave, yell "SHARON!"
Hum the "Mission Impossible" theme, speak into your lapel and say "Right, Jim".
When there is only one other person in the elevator, tap them on the shoulder and then pretend it wasn't you.
Sit with a desk, pencil cup and a telephone in the elevator. When someone walks in, ask if they have an appointment.
Push a button, pretend it gave you a shock. Smile and go back for more.
Ask the others in the elevator which floor they're going to, but push the wrong buttons.
Call the Psychic Hotline and ask them if they know which floor you're on.
Hold the doors open as if you're waiting for a friend, but then let it close. Say to nobody, "Hey, Wally, how's it been?"
Drop a pen, wait for someone to pick it up and then yell, "That's mine!"
Put a cardboard box in the corner; when someone gets on ask them if they can hear ticking.
When the doors close, announce, "Don't worry, they'll open again soon."
Enforce a group hug.
Open your purse slightly and say, "Do you have enough air in there?"
Tell one of the other passengers that you're sorry, but you're going to have to let him go.
Wave hands wildly at invisible flies buzzing around your head.
Make race car noises when anyone gets on or off.
Shave.
Crack open your briefcase or purse, and while peering inside ask: "Got enough air in there?"
Stand silent and motionless in the corner, facing the wall, without getting off.
When arriving at your floor, grunt and strain to yank the doors open, then act embarrassed when they open by themselves.
Greet everyone getting on the elevator with a warm handshake and ask them to call you "Admiral".
On the highest floor, hold the door open and demand that it stay open until you hear the penny you dropped down the shaft go "plink" at the bottom.
Stare, grinning, at another passenger for a while, and then announce: "I've got new socks on!"
When at least 8 people have boarded, moan from the back: "Oh, not now... motion sickness!"
Bet the other passengers you can fit a quarter in your nose.
Frown and mutter "gotta go, gotta go" then sigh and say "oops!"
Sing along with the Muzak.
Show other passengers a wound and ask if it looks infected.
Walk on with a cooler that says "human head" on the side.
Stare at another passenger for a while, then announce "You're one of THEM!" and move to the far corner of the elevator.
Leave a box between the doors.
Ask each passenger getting on if you can push the button for them.
Wear a puppet on your hand and talk to other passengers "through" it.
Start a sing-along.
When the elevator is silent, look around and ask "is that your beeper?"
Draw a little square on the floor with chalk and announce to the other passengers that this is your personal space.
Announce in a demonic voice: "I must find a more suitable host body."
Carry a blanket and clutch it protectively.
If anyone brushes against you, recoil and holler "Bad touch!"
While the doors are opening, hurriedly whisper, "Hide it. quick!" then whistle innocently.

With Feeling
Have we established that I am an incredibly emotional person? If not, I am an incredibly emotional person; I feel everything. This is why music is so important to me; I love being able to emulate the emotions the song is intended to evoke. When I sing, I am feeling the emotions of the song. This is also why I can act well. Sometimes I can act so well that I fool myself (and if I was thirty pounds lighter, 4-7 inches taller, and willing to give up chocolate I could be a professional actress but for now I'll settle for stunt rider). This is a big problem. I can convince myself that everything is ok, that if I just keep going the direction I'm going all the bad stuff will simply stop existing or at least stop bothering me but this is a terrible lie (which is sad because I'm a pretty darn good liar). Trying to ignore things just makes me bitter/grouchful/annoyed and for lack of a more succinct phrase, turns me into a bitch. Not fun for anyone, especially me because I become antisocial, mopy, and guilt-ridden for my bitchiness. I am currently in this scarybad place. I'm wallowing over something that I need to do and crying about the past; it's a little ridiculous. So ridiculous in fact that it's turned me into one of those angsty teens (minus the teen part) that I was ridiculing earlier this year....ugh (shudder).
Anyway I think the point of this post was something along the lines of I feel everything because I'm very emotional and now I'm feeling really low and stressed which sucks because it's summer and summer is supposed to be fun and it's not been so far....it's been a big ball of suck. I need to make some changes and feel better.....Clarkson knows.....

Song of the Next 23 hours 16 Minutes
I just realized that my "jam" has never been a song of the day. Yes it's way overplayed but I can't help but pump my fist in the air every time I here it.

Song of 6/12/12
Miss Independent by Kelly Clarkson
I'm still Miss Independent, no goodbye old you just yet.
I'm still Miss Independent, no goodbye old you just yet.
Another Survey! (this one is much better than the last one)
FAVORITE
Movie at the moment?
I like that it's "at the moment" because my favorites change like the seasons, at this moment I am
LOVING Snow White and the Huntsman but my favorite movie of all time is and probably will forever be The Mummy
because once wasn't enough:
Jelly Belly jelly bean?
Watermelon, I know, sooo original
Drink?
Vodka Martini, shaken not stirred
Name for a girl?
Katherine, it's a family name
Compliment to receive?
One time someone told me that I sang like Rachel Berry, not gonna lie, that was a shining moment in my life
Thing to say?
I say the words "awesome" and "cool beans" way more than anyone should, but I'm trying to bring back the phrase "jump back!" because it makes me chuckle
Talk show host?
Either Jimmy Kimmel or Kelly Rippa (I'm an old lady ok, I like Regis and Kelly except now it's just Kelly)
Weapon?
Bow and arrow, it's very elegant
Last Thing
that was told to you?
My sister woke up at various hours this morning
Thing you ate?
Cookie dough, next time we are leaving out the peanut butter
Person that pissed you off?
Can't think of a specific person (it probably involved idiots on the road) but what's pissing me off right now is my leg, it's spasming and when it does a) it hurts and b) it looks like it has a freakin heartbeat it's sooooo gross!
Person that you pissed off?
I'm gonna have to say my stomach because whenever I try to eat food it's like "dude no!" and then I feel and/or get sick
Song you listened to?
Last song: Gonna Get Over You by Sara Bareilles
Current song: Holding a Heart by A Girl Named Toby
Book you read?
New Book: Embrace by Jessica Shirvington
Actual last book (that I re-read): City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare
Thing you were confused about?
LIFE! what I'm supposed to do with mine, how it affects other people, why my leg keeps TWITCHING!!!! it's so GROSS!!
TV show you watched?
Heartland it's a Canadian show about horses
Thing that made you feel like crap?
MY LEG!!!!! and my stomach (in a rather literal sense ha ha ha)
Emotionally: not knowing what to do about how I feel about certain things in my life and the Victoria's Secret giant poster thing at the mall which is placed ironically next to Betty Jane Candy Store (I still went in but I bet it's hurting their business)
Have You Ever
Tried to kill someone?
Only with my mind, turns out you can't explode people with your mind
Lied to a priest?
I can't recall the last time I talked to a priest, but I don't think I've ever intentionally lied to my pastor
Ridden a horse?
Dumbest question on this survey? found it!
Burst a blood vessel?
Yes, in my eye, it was gross
Forgotten what month it was?
I actually thought it was still May
Smoked?
Nope and never will
Made up your own constellations?

Uncharted
I am in a place right now that I can't even begin to understand and I know I've already talked about this song but seriously, SERIOUSLY, it's me:
No words, My tears won't make any room for more,
And it don't hurt like anything I've ever felt before,
this is no broken heart,
No familiar scars,
This territory goes uncharted...
Just me, in a room sunk down in a house in a town, and I
Don't breathe, no I never meant to let it get away from me
Now, I've too much to hold, everybody has to get their hands on gold,
And I want uncharted.
Stuck under the ceiling I made, I can't help but feeling...
I'm going down,
Follow if you want, I won't just hang around,
Like you'll show me where to go,
I'm already out of foolproof ideas, so don't ask me how
To get started, it's all uncharted...
La la la-a-a-a.
Oh-h-h.
Each day, countin' up the minutes, till I get alone, 'cause I can't stay
In the middle of it all, it's nobody's fault, but I'm
So low, never knew how much I didn't know,
Oh, everything is uncharted.
I know I'm getting nowhere, when I only sit and stare like...
I'm going down,
Follow if you want, I won't just hang around,
Like you'll show me where to go,
I'm already out of foolproof ideas, so don't ask me how
To get started, it's all uncharted.
Jump start my kaleidoscope heart,
Love to watch the colors fade,
They may not make sense,
But they sure as hell made me.
I won't go as a passenger, no
Waiting for the road to be laid
Though I may be going down,
I'm taking flame over burning out
Compare where you are to where you want to be, and you'll get nowhere
I'm going down,
Follow if you want, I won't just hang around,
Like you'll show me where to go,
I'm already out of foolproof ideas, so don't ask me how
To get started.
Oh-h

Remember me? I write stuff. This stuff's about me.
I've been out of town and lazy lately so I have failed to write anything over the last couple weeks but I'm back now so you may or may not hear/see/read more thoughts from my head.
I've been doing a lot of thinking lately (30 hours in the car gives you time to do that), been thinking about who I am, what I want in life, what I'm supposed to do with my life, how to do that, and why? I've been struggling a lot with what I'm supposed to do with my life and I think I can't move forward with my life until I embrace who I am.
Let's face it, life can suck. It's not easy, people get hurt. I've been hurt many times and occasionally I've done the hurting. Because of my life experiences and being hurt by those who have been important to me I've stopped letting people into my life. I've put up walls that keep people from getting too close; I've made it so that anyone new in my life could do something to hurt me and I could easily walk away from that relationship.
I had a very long, very deep conversation with my sister last night about these walls and she asked me if I wanted to let people in again. At first I said yes (who doesn't like making new friends), but after really thinking about it for a while I realized that where I am in my life right now, I don't want to let people in. I'm tired of being burned, I'm tired of being a doormat, I'm tired of trying so hard only to be set aside. I need some me-time, some independence. All of my dreams for the future include me being on my own for a while (tiny house big yard giant dog, nyc appartment above a bar/coffeeshop/bistro with friends, adventure abroad, etc.)
To use a saying from Grey's Anatomy I am scary and damaged. I don't trust people easily and I react poorly to situations that make me uncomfortable. I have a fear of commitment. I run. I never feel good enough. I am flawed. I lack confidence. I'm scared to dream and apt to settle. I hold grudges. I am overly observant. I am impatient. I'm sarcastic. I have a scary dark place that I retreat to sometimes. I despise know-it-alls. I like time to myself. I'm don't like clingy people. I don't worry about you doing your thing so I don't like it when you worry about me doing my thing. I'm a control freak, not in the creepy trying to control others around me kind of way, but in the way where I HATE being controlled by others. I like being in control of my life, and I REALLY don't appreciate other people telling me what I can't do or telling me what I should do (without my asking). I don't like being tied down, I like freedom and independence. Part of this is where I am in life, wanting to grow up and be self-sufficient, but part of it is just how I am and that's not going to change.
Anyone else amused by how each paragraph is longer than the last one? Yeah didn't do that on purpose. My scarydamagedthings kinda sound like a Kelly Clarkson song. Yeah kinda did that on purpose, what can I say, music influences me. Everybody's got a dark side! Do you love me? Can you love mine? I digress.
I'm complicated and I have issues, so does everybody else in the universe, at least I'm dealing with mine.
While I'm word vomiting all over this post let's just throw it out there that I am a sucker for "lost-causes." The people I love the most are the people society has written off because I think these are the people who need it the most. On that note one of my biggest pet peeves is/are judgy people. Have you made a mistake in your life? If you answered no then you are either a liar or Jesus. If you answered yes then where the hell do you get off judging other people for their mistakes? The church has major issues with this. I am Lutheran, I believe that Jesus is my Lord and Savior, he died so that I (and everybody else) wouldn't be judged for my (our) sins. This means that people who sin the most need Jesus' love and message the most so shouldn't we as members of the church being trying the hardest to reach them and make them feel welcome? I'll give you a hint, the answer starts with a y and rhymes with mess. What happens most often to these people? The church (not all of it, but this is the stereotype) ostracizes them, makes them feel guilty, tells them they better repent or burn in the fires of hell for all eternity. Isn't that true of all of us? (y and mess) Do we approach everyone like that? No! No, we welcome normal, wholesome families into our church, they're good influences on our children and won't play their music too loud, but guess what, they sin just as much. God says that all sins are equal, calling someone an idiot while driving is just as bad as having pre-marital sex in His eyes. We all sin. We all fall short of the glory of God. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ and we should love each other as such. Summary: don't write anyone or anything off. End of rant.
Enough with my negative attributes, I do have good qualities. I am fiercely loyal and will fight to protect my friends. I tend to put others first. When I love I do it whole-heartedly. I am interested in other people, I will listen to what you have to say. I will do my best to help you solve your problems whatever they may be. I'm funny. I love having fun. I try to make the best of situations. Being observant, I like to know people so I can be there for them. I don't give up. I don't write people off. I work hard at everything. I'm not clingy. I'm not jealous. If you're hurting I will do my best to fix your pain or at least beat up the thing that hurt you. I'm open-minded. I love music. I try to see the beauty in things first. I love my God, I love my family, and I love my friends.
Ok, I'm tired of writing now.

Song of the Last Few Weeks
The last couple weeks have been an incredibly stressful journey during which I literally traveled many (over 1500) miles. It is for this reason that I have chosen one of my favorite songs:
