Diet Day Four

I am extraordinarily proud to say that I have not had any grains whatsoever this week and I'm feeling pretty good.  Honestly the hardest part is remembering to eat/finding something to eat when I'm not at home.  When I don't eat I get terrible headaches and can't focus which makes school a challenge but I am slowly remembering to bring food with me.  I have already noticed changes in my body, my stomach has sucked in a little bit and my whole body is beginning to get leaner and stronger (also due to the awesome Total Thigh Trainer machine that I've been using.  Honestly I will probably keep this diet after the 6 weeks is up.  I definitely won't be as strict with it, but I will make eating grains a treat instead of them being part of my regular diet.  Tomorrow is Friday which means I get to splurge on something, I'm supposed to buy a dress, but I may postpone that being as I'm planning on dropping at least 1 dress size ;)  Happy Almost Weekend!!!!

Diet Day One

I pretty much randomly decided that I should start my diet today...I've already cheated....I put soy mil in my morning cup of coffee...oh well.  I will do better tomorrow.  Today I have refrained from any and all grains though so I am proud of myself for that :)

Breakfast:
1 scrambled egg
1/4 cup of each green, yellow, and red pepper
1 link of apple chicken sausage
8 oz. of V8 Fusion

Lunch (so far):
3 GF meatballs made with veggies instead of any sort of starch to hold them together
1/2 cup of canteloupe
1/2 cup of zucchini in spaghetti sauce (pretty darn tasty)

Dinner (will be):
Chicken fajitas (serves 4):
  - Lot's of chicken
  - 1 whole pepper of each color
  - Finely chopped mushrooms
  - 1 cup of salsa
  - 1  avacado
Some sort of fruit/veggie

Snack:
Gorp:
  - Almonds
  - Sunflower seeds
  - Craisins
  - Ghiradelli semi-sweet chocolate chips

Please pray for my determination in keeping this diet for 6 weeks!

So I'm also supposed to document how I feel and what exercise I do.  Today I have not yet exercised and I plan on using our new Triple T machine to get some sexy thighs ;) and/or doing Bob Harper yoga.

I mostly feel hungry and crabby, I'm still trying to figure out what I can munch on and I'm fairly lazy about it so I have a tendency to not eat rather than fixing something healthy/diet-approved to eat.  I know it will take at least 2 weeks before I start feeling better so I have decided I might allow myself to buy a song off Amazon every day to try to stay motivated (plus then I have more new music for running).

Just got done doing my "steps" on the Triple T machine of awesomeness, feeling fantastic!

6 Degrees of Separation

I am a walking version of IMDb so I am the queen of this game.  I thought it might be fun to try to connect all of my favorite shows (there are a lot of them....kinda embarrassing but oh well).  My favorite shows include (in no particularly particular order):

The Vampire Diaries
ER
Heroes
Alias
Gilmore Girls
Wizards of Waverly Place (don't knock it till you watch it)
Doctor Who
Bones
Las Vegas
Grey's Anatomy
Glee
Lost
Supernatural
The Big Bang Theory
How I Met Your Mother
Nikita

Game on:

We will make the movie "Monte Carlo" our starting point (so degrees from this movie).  "Monte Carlo" starred Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place), Katie Cassidy (Supernatural), Cory Monteith (Glee), Brett Cullen (Lost), and Catherine Tate (Doctor Who).  Wow, 5/15 shows in one degree.  Leighton Meester (Monte Carlo) also starred in the movie "The Roommate" with Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries) - 2 degrees.  From "The Vampire Diaries" we get David Anders (Alias, Heroes) - 3 degrees - Paul Wesley who starred in "Killer Movie" with Kaley Cuoco (Big Bang Theory) and  Melinda Clarke (Nikita) - 4 degrees.  Melinda Clark stars in Nikita alongside Lyndsy Fonseca (How I Met Your Mother) and Shane West (ER) - 5 degrees.  Selena Gomez (Wizards, Monte Carlo) starred in the movie "Ramona and Beezus" with Josh Duhamel (Las Vegas) and Sandra Oh (Grey's Anatomy) - 1 degree.  Katie Cassidy (Monte Carlo) starred in Supernatural with Jared Padalecki (Gilmore Girls) - 2 degrees.  Finally, Brett Cullen (Monte Carlo) starred in "Lost" with Tamara Taylor (Bones) - 2 degrees.  That is all of my favorite shows in less than 6 degrees of separation.  As soon as I figure out how to make a pretty table thing to show exactly how I did that I will but for now this ugly paragraph type deal will have to do. :)

Get Psyched!

For me music is imperative for running because it keeps me motivated and moving and without it all I would think about is the lactic acid forming in my legs.  However, when you're running can't just listen to any music, for instance Ron Pope's "A Drop in the Ocean" while being a good song will make you want to sit down on the curb and cry about how you'll never find someone like that (Adele's "Someone Like You" just reinforces this notion and makes you cry harder).  Anyways, when you're running you need to get psyched.  I happen to be one of the citizens of this country with a TV so of course I've watched "How I Met Your Mother" and I am in complete agreement with Barney (on one thing and one thing only) a good music mix starts high and gets higher.  So here is my running playlist (be forewarned I am a girl and therefore like some girly songs, don't hate, it's bad for the soul):

"Shook Down" - Yuck
"Shake it Out" - Florence and the Machine
"Suddenly I See" - KT Tunstall
"Blow Away" - A Fine Frenzy
"Nothing" or "For the First Time" or "Breakeven" - The Script
"Unwritten" - Natasha Bedingfield
"Without You" - David Guetta
"Not Over You" - Gavin Degraw (it's a very bouncy song)
"What Doesn't Kill You" - Kelly Clarkson
"My Body" - Young the Giant
"Animal" - Neon Trees
"Beggin" - Madcon
"Sexy and I Know it" or "Party Rock Anthem" - LMFAO
"Get Some" - Lykke Li
"Hello" - Martin Solveig ft.Dragonette
"Hit the Lights"- Selena Gomez and the Scene
"Hips Don't Lie" - Shakira ft. Wyclef Jean
"Raise Your Glass" - P!nk
"Fake I.D." - Big and Rich (if you like country...I do)
"No Sleep Tonight" - Faders
"Hawk Eyes" - The Kicks
"Dark Horses" - Switchfoot
"Awake and Alive" - Skillet
"Thunderstruck" - ACDC

Ok so this playlist is a little long, I mix and match (most of the time I just hit "random" on my running "playlist" which is wwaaayyyy longer than this list) but these are the songs I listen to most.  I typically start with "Shook Down" because its relaxing and motivating for me to go for a run.  I also typically end with "Thunderstruck" because by the end of my run I'm dead and need something b.a. to listen to in order to stay on my feet moving in a forward direction.  I also like to end my run with a short walk and then a few sprints up and down my street racing cars...I don't win a lot....and "Thunderstruck," "Hit the Lights," "What Doesn't Kill You," and "Raise Your Glass" are especially good for this.

That's my schpeel for the day....VAMPIRE DIARIES IS ON TONIGHT!!!!!  Yay!!!  An hour of incredibly fit, outrageously beautiful people doing non-realistic but incredibly entertaining things, my favorite.

I have nothing clever for this title

Ok so I went to see my doctor the other day, just a little update, how's it going type deal.  First off she said I'm doing fantastic (so yay me there) but then she suggested that I try a paleolithic style diet.  This means NO GRAINS.  Ah!  Not my carbs, I love my carbs :( was my first reaction but then I started thinking about my goals for this year (look hot in a bikini, run a marathon, eat healthierly, etc.) and I decided to give this thing a try.

I talked to my family and they are going to do it with me (yay for support), we are all going to be healthier, more energetic, and thinner come summer time.  I'm trying to change not only my body, but my attitude as well this year.  I want to be less shy and scared so that I can be outgoing and fun.  So instead of looking at this diet as some sort of sadistic punishment thingy that's really gonna suck I've decided to look at it as God giving me exactly what I asked for, a healthier body.

I am looking forward to this diet (sorta) but it's going to require a lot of self discipline and strength on my part.  To help myself out a little bit I have designed a plan, at the end of every week, if I have stuck to my diet and followed my half-marathon training plan I am going to treat myself to something (NOT food).  Here are the prizes I am competing with myself for:

Week 1: That ADORABLE dress I found at target the other day, or maybe some comfy yoga shirts
Week 2: A movie of my choice, either go see one at the theater or go pick one out at the store
Week 3: Music Shopping Spree on AMAZON
Week 4: Book shopping at 1/2 Price books
Week 5: Go to the mall and buy something
Week 6: Riding lessons with Danni

After the 6 weeks are up I'll decide if I want to continue a strict paleolithic diet or if I want to SLOWLY start integrating certain grains back into my diet.  I am strong enough to do whatever I set my mind to and I am going to do this but I am going to need everyone's help to hold me accountable.

My Motto for the next 6 weeks: "I find that if you act like somethings gonna happen it usually will."

So I'm going to walk around acting like I'm going to be able to follow this diet and run a half-marathon in May and a full marathon sometime this summer.
