Movies For Your Mood

Ever find yourself wishing you had a good movie to watch that would fit your mood?  Well I do, all the time (especially when working out).  I'm a very indecisive person so it takes me forever to pick a movie to watch and am always looking for new movies to try.  I am girl though so the movie I want to watch is wholly dependent on my mood (which has a tendency to swing); for this reason I have compiled a list of various movies to suit (almost) every mood.  Enjoy (and share your suggestions):

Sad and in need of a good cry:
  1. P.S. I Love You - husband dies; he loves his wife so much that he leaves her instructions for how to move on.  Starring Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler, Lisa Kudrow, Jeffrey Dean Morgan - Rated PG-13
  2. Marley and Me - story of a dog's people; shows how this dog has affected the lives of a family.  You'll laugh a lot, you'll probably bawl like a baby at the end (that is, if you have a soul), the word heartwarming comes to mind.  Starring Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson, Eric Dane - Rated PG
  3. A Walk to Remember - a young girl is dying of cancer, Nicholas Sparks book, 'nuff said.  Starring Mandy Moore, Shane West, Daryl Hannah - Rated PG
  4. Up - a whimsical children's movie that covers some very adult-ish themes about aging.  Starring Edward Asner, Christopher Plummer - Rated PG

Movies about real life teenage ansgt and/or coping with disabilities in high school:
  1. The Breakfast Club - random group of teenagers are stuck in Saturday school - shenanigans ensue; they learn a lot about each other and themselves.  Rains down some truth about high school and cliques - 80's Classic.  Starring Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, and a bunch of other 80's kids - Rated R
  2. Perks of Being a Wallflower - story of group of outcast kids in high school in the 90's.  Covers variety of important difficulties of high school - depression, mental illness, child abuse, abusive relationships, homosexuality, sex, friendships vs. relationships, substance abuse, etc.  Starring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Ezra Miller, Mae Whitman, Nina Dobrev and some famous adults too - Rated PG-13
  3. Rocket Science - story of a boy with a stutter who gets conned into joining the debate team by a fast-talking girl he is crushing on.  Quirky, quick-witted, and clever.  Starring Nicholas D'Agosto, Reece Thompson, Anna Kendrick - Rated R
  4. Juno - seriously if you don't know what this movie's about you deserve the difficulty of looking it up yourself.  Starring Ellen Page, Michael Cera, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman, etc. - Rated PG-13

Movies about real-life issues - they make you ponder aspects of society and the world:

  7. 50/50 - a young man is diagnosed with cancer and given a 50/50 chance of survival.  This is a story of coping and the effect such diseases have, not only on their victims, but on the lives of those they are close to.  Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogan, Anna Kendrick, the mean one from The Help, Anjelica Huston - Rated R
  8. The Help - based on a book (which I sadly haven't read) about the lives of African American maids during the civil rights movement.  Starring Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Bryce Dallas Howard (the mean one), Octavia Spencer, Jessica Chastain, Anna Camp (the dumb one)

No Strings Attached - girl and guy try to keep their relationship strictly physical, guy gets too attached, girl rejects him (kinda a nice role reversal there).  There's enough comedy to keep you laughing and make you forget about that dude who broke your heart.  Better story than Friends With Benefits.  Starring Ashton Kutcher, Natalie Portman - Rated R
